Marines and Hikarigaoka Nursing Home staff serve plates of homemade Okinawan food at a party Oct. 30 at Hikarigaoka Nursing Home. The party was held to thank the Marines who had been volunteering at the nursing home for more than a decade. “I think it’s good for the people of Okinawa to make friends with the service members,” said Yashal Endo a caretaker at the nursing home. “These parties help bring us closer together. We want to provide as many opportunities as we can for the residents to have a great time and enjoy interaction with the Marines.” The Marines are with 7th Communication Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
