Retired Col. Paul Deckert tells Maj. Daniel Carmick’s story during a wreath-laying ceremony at the St. Louis Cemetery #2 in New Orleans, Nov. 8, 2014. Carmick fought in the War of 1812 and commanded Marines during the Battle of New Orleans which helped repel British forces who sought to seize the city.
