Ensign Samara Griffin establishes communications with U.S. patrol crafts as United Arab Emirates Navy Lt. Cmdr. Ali Al-Abdouli establish communications with UAE Lurssen FPB 44 Mubarraz (P 141) aboard USS Mitscher (DDG 57) during a maritime infrastructure protection exercise. Mitscher, homeported in Norfolk, is deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility and is participating in the International Mine Countermeasures Exercise (IMCMEX). With a quarter of the world's navies participating including 6,500 Sailors from every region, IMCMEX is the largest international naval exercise promoting maritime security and the free-flow of trade through mine countermeasure operations, maritime security operations, and maritime infrastructure protection in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility and throughout the world.
