    Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the president of Liberia, speaks at the opening ceremony of the Monrovia Medical Unit Nov. 5, 2014, in Harbel, Liberia. The 25-bed MMU is a unique ETU built specifically to care for medical workers who have become infected with Ebola while treating patients. Sirleaf thanked all of the agencies who have supported the Government of Liberia’s fight against Ebola, especially the Joint Forces Command – United Assistance and the U.S. Public Health Services. She also took time to recognize the few medical workers who passed away from Ebola while caring for their patients. United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in West African nations.
