Gunner's Mate Seaman Chris Birdsong (center), assigned to Coastal Riverine Squadron 4 (CRS4), holds training on the .50-caliber machine gun for Electronics Technician 3rd Class Christy Ortiz and Gunner's Mate Seaman Steve Vargas. CRS4 is currently operating from Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in support of Bold Alligator 2014. Bold Alligator is intended to improve Navy-Marine Corps amphibious core competencies. Working with coalition, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), allied and partner nations is a necessary investment in the current and future readiness of our forces.
