A U.S. Army soldier in ACU (Army Combat Uniform) is walking across a gravel area at what appears to be a military base. The soldier is covered in red substance and is carrying what appears to be a prop or moulage (simulated casualty training) head, suggesting participation in a medical training exercise. The background shows concrete T-wall barriers typical of forward operating bases, with a sign reading 'N POD'.

Capt. Daniel R. Dobler, 834th Aviation Support Battalion and native of Apple Valley, Minn., was simulating a psych patient during the mass casualty exercise on Joint Base Balad, Iraq, March 28. Even though he had no physical injuries, it was a test for all the medics on their scene management. "Keeping order in chaos is key to providing the proper medical treatment at the right time," said Sgt. 1st Class Gwen Zimmerman, Task Force 34, Troop Medical Clinic.
