Iraqi policemen practice takedown techniques during Scorpion Academy, a three-day training seminar, at Joint Security Station Salaam. The academy is meant to reinforce the Iraqis' troop tactical procedures as well as encourage cooperation between the IPs and the Iraqi army, according to Spc. Franklin Land III, 978th MP Co. "Couple of years ago, the IA and the IP were constantly fighting back and forth; they didn't want to work together," the native of Courtland, Va. said. "I've noticed that since we've been working with the academy, especially in our area, that the IAs and the IPs work together now."
