Jaime Ramon T. Ascalon (right), Philippine deputy consul general and Stephen Dun, a Karen from Burma, were panelists on the Views on the Pacific Symposium at the University of Washington Tacoma Oct. 21. This is the third in a series of symposia that focuses on President Obama’s foreign policy of a “strategic rebalance” to the Asia-Pacific region and “whole of government” approach to stability and security. The discussion allowed panelist to delve more deeply into the ways nations can build effective partnerships and relationships, while assisting in disaster relief efforts.
