Lt. Col. Mark A. Piterski, commander, 2-113th Infantry Battalion, 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, New Jersey Army National Guard, a native of River Vale, N.J., greets Iraqi merchants in Safwan, Iraq, Feb. 3, while Staff Sgt. Wayne Stine provides security, right. Not only did Piterski build upon local relationships that day, he led Gen. David Quantock, commander, Task Force 134 Detainee Operations, on a familiarization tour in the Safwan area in order to show the function of several Camp Bucca base defense elements.
