U.S. Marines work together to quickly set up an OE-254 antenna Sept. 16 in Irai, Palau. The training familiarized the Marines with the equipment by testing how fast they could set up the antenna. The OE-254 is a general-purpose, stationary, omni-directional antenna used to extend the range of tactical FM radio sets. The antenna provided the Marines with communications over disadvantageous terrain with a 10 mile reach. The training is part of exercise T-AKE 14-2, a maritime pre-positioned force, multi-country theater security cooperation event that deploys from Okinawa aboard the USNS Sacagawea to conduct training exercises. The Marines are field radio operators with Combat Logistics Detachment 379, Combat Logistics Regiment 37, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
