Two Kazakhstani Peacekeeping Battalion soldiers speak to the local police chief about hostile gunfire during a situational training exercise as part of Steppe Eagle 2014, Oct. 3, at the Joint Multinational Readiness Training Center here. The KAZBAT was given permission to search the town for the perpetrators. The British Army acted as mentors and observers as the KAZBAT troops work with the local police to maintain order. This is the first year the Steppe Eagle exercise is being conducted outside of Kazakhstan, allowing the KAZBAT to validate their capacity to deploy to peacekeeping operations outside of their country.
