The amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5) transits the Pacific Ocean Aug. 13, 2014. The Peleliu was underway conducting a scheduled Western Pacific deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility after successfully completing exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2014 in Hawaii. RIMPAC is a U.S. Pacific Fleet-hosted biennial multinational maritime exercise designed to foster and sustain international cooperation on the security of the world's oceans.
