Spc. Pablo Gonzalez, a member of 1st Cavalry Division and native of Albuquerque, N.M., communicates with the helicopter assigned to take Command Sgt. Maj. Andrew Barteky, command sergeant major of 1st Cavalry Division and Regional Command-South, to and from Forward Operating Base Mescal July 7. Gonzales, who has since been promoted to sergeant, is assigned as personal security officer to Barteky while on deployment to Afghanistan.
