Rct. Jordan Linvog, an 18-year-old native of Blaine, Wash., is currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., in hopes of earning the title of United States Marine. Linvog is training with Platoon 4033, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, and is scheduled to graduate Sept. 19, 2014. “I joined the Marine Corps to get out of my comfort zone and build a variety of skills that I can use my entire life,” said Linvog, who graduated from Blaine High School in 2014. “I am also very family oriented and have always wanted to make them proud.”
Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for 50 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Caitlin Brink)
