Corporal William Cobb, an aircraft mechanic with Marine Operation Test and Evaluation Squadron 22 (VMX-22), and a native of Moultrie, Ga., contributed to the food service for the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). Cobb was one of three Marines who worked in one of America’s kitchens for the past month, serving more than 100 meals to the Marines and Sailors onboard. The three Marines agreed that working side by side with Sailors and getting to know them was the most rewarding part of the job. Though behind the scenes, their role has been essential in support of the ship’s daily operations. America is currently on her maiden transit dubbed, “America Visits the Americas.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Christopher J. Moore/Released)
