A sea of blue came together when Brig. Gen. John Flournoy, Jr., 4th Air Force, Air Force Reserve commander, met with William J. Bratton, New York City Police commissioner. Flournoy's visit flaunted New York's finest, recognizing public servants who further the mission of the NYPD and support out Citizen Airmen. As the commander of the 4th Air Force, Flournoy's responsibilities encompass 300 units and more than 30,000 personnel. As the largest municipal police force in the United States, the NYPD encompasses over 34,000 personnel within the five boroughs of New York City. The NYPD has been a strong supporter of the 514th Air Mobility Wing located at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. Currently, there are approximately 740 total active members of service in the NYPD that are in the military Reserves. In addition, approximately 3,200 have prior military experience. Pictured: Col.
