Pfc. Steven Furnas, a paratrooper with 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, fires his M4 carbine during a stress shoot at Adazi, Latvia, July 10. Paratroopers ran across loose sand carrying two ammunition cans before sprinting through six stations and taking up different firing positions. Approximately 600 paratroopers from the 173rd Abn. Bde. deployed to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an unscheduled land-forces exercise to demonstrate commitment to NATO obligations and sustain interoperability with allied forces.
