The San Antonio-class amphibious dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19), front, and the Afloat Forward Staging Base (Interim) USS Ponce (AFSB(I)-15), back, transit in the Arabian Gulf while forward deployed supporting Commander, Task Force 51. CTF 51 provides command and control of amphibious forces in the region, contingency response missions, maritime humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
