2nd Lt. Ryan Miller, assistant logistics officer for 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, tosses the coin to decide who will kick off for an amateur league American football game between the Riga Lions from Latvia and the Tartu Titans from Estonia in Upesciems, Latvia, July 5. Miller, a native of Batesville, Ind., served as a guest referee with two other paratroopers from the 173rd Abn. Bde. Approximately 600 paratroopers from the brigade are in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an unscheduled land-forces exercise to demonstrate commitment to NATO obligations and sustain interoperability with allied forces.
