Spc. Shavra Woodard, a dental hygienist with the 810th Medical Company (Detachment), 49th Multifunctional Medical Battalion out of Charleston, S.C., cleans and examines the teeth of Brice Evans, a Benton, Ill., resident, during Innovative Readiness Training exercise Southern Care 2014. The purpose of the civil-military program IRT SC14 is to improve military readiness while providing quality medical/dental services at no cost to residents of Southern Illinois. This was the first time in seven years that Evans had a dental check-up.
