U.S. Soldiers with 2nd Battalion 5th Cavalry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, refuel a M1A2 Abrams tank on the 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command’s Grafenwoehr Training Area as part of exercise Combined Resolve II, June 13, 2014. The exercise is a U.S. Army Europe-directed multinational exercise, including more than 4,000 participants from 15 allied and partner countries. The gunnery is the first time a U.S. Army rotational force uses the European Activity Set, a set of armored vehicles and equipment pre-positioned in Grafenwoehr – including the most up-to-date versions of the M1A2 Abrams tanks and M2/M3 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles -- for live-fire training in Europe.
