An Iraqi police officer provides security during a training exercise on Dec 21 on Lake Thar Thar, Iraq. Sailors with Detachment 3, Riverine Squadron 1, Regimental Combat Team 5 conducted a week-long course on the lake to qualify approximately 35 Iraqi police officers to be officers with the al-Anbar Iraqi River Police. The role of the river police is to patrol the waterways independently from coalition forces ensuring the safety of the local populace.
