A Carry The Fallen fundraising team walks through downtown Raleigh, N.C., on May 31, 2013, while wearing weighted rucksacks, to raise money for Active Heroes and awareness of the high rate of veteran suicides. The group, led by North Carolina National Guard Soldier Staff Sgt. Elle Milo with Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Joint Force Headquarters was made up of active duty service members, National Guardsmen, veterans and civilians, who spent 12 hours rucking and covered 23.62 miles to support Active Heroes, a non-profit organization that supports veterans and their families.
