A wreath lies in front of the gravesite of Pfc. Richard Vargas, a U.S. paratrooper from World War II buried here at Lorraine American Cemetery. The wreath was placed by Leslie Palmer Cruise Jr., an 89-year-old WWII veteran and fellow paratrooper of Vargas, during a commemoration ceremony June 2. Soldiers and Airmen from the Kaiserslautern, Germany-based 5th Quartermaster Theater Aerial Delivery Company, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, and the Ramstein, Germany-based 435th Contingency Response Group served as honor guard. The event was organized by the National Warplane Museum and was part of this week’s 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. (Photo by Brandon Beach, 21st TSC Public Affairs)
