The late 2nd Lt. Jackson Palmer Jr., third from top left, was a navigator assigned to the 303rd Bombardment Group at RAF Molesworth, United Kingdom, when his plane was shot down by enemy forces while conducting an aerial mission during World War II May 28, 1944. His family only received notification of him missing in action. Nearly 70 years later, Palmer’s second cousins traveled to England to find out what happened to him and visit his grave site at the World War II American Cemetery and Memorial in Margraten, The Netherlands.
