U.S. Marines with Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment attach their gear on the side of assault amphibious vehicles before attacking thier objectives during Desert Scimitar aboard Marine Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., May 14, 2014. Desert Scimitar enables 1st Marine Division to test and refine its command and control capabilities by acting as the headquarters element for a forward-deployed Marine Expeditionary Force.
