Lt. Col. Sean Kuester, commander, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment “Desert Rogues”, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, addresses all in attendance from atop an M1A2SEP Abrams Tank, in order to introduce two Soldiers about to receive awards here at the Rogues’ motor pool, May 16. Sgt. Thomas Evans, and Spc. Dustin Smothers, both infantryman with Company B, 1-64th AR, were awarded the Bronze Star Medal with ‘V’ device for Valor, for their individual actions on separate occasions in combat during their last deployment to Afghanistan with the Rogues, which took place from March to December of 2012.
