Capt. Mary E. Dexter, the new commanding officer of Engineering Duty Officer School, addresses the audience during a ceremony Oct. 23 held at the command headquarters. Dexter relieved Capt. Anthony J. Mullarky, who had served as CO since July 2007. Vice Adm. Kevin M. McCoy, commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, was the guest speaker for the event. The Engineering Duty Officer (EDO) School's primary function is to conduct entry-level indoctrination for newly-selected active duty and Reserve engineering duty officers. The Basic Course covers research and development, acquisition, maintenance and modernization of ships and ship systems, combat and weapon systems, ordnance and electronic systems.
