An elderly man wearing the United States Medal of Honor around his neck is engaged in conversation with another person whose back is to the camera. The setting appears to be a formal indoor venue with decorative wallpaper, curtains, and an American flag visible in the background. The man appears to be a Medal of Honor recipient at what looks like an official or ceremonial event.

Retired Col. Leo Thorsness, one of the 77 still-living Medal of Honor recipients, takes time to shake hands with audience members from the speaker series breakfast. Educators, veterans and Georgia Guardsmen were able to take photos with the colonel, as well, after the breakfast. When Thorsness received the Medal of Honor on Oct. 15, 1973, from President Richard Nixon, he told the colonel, "We've been waiting for you for six years. Welcome home."
