Master Chief Petty Officer William White, Senior Chief Petty Officer Nielsa Jackson, Petty Officer 1st Class Melissa Rivera, Petty Officer 1st Class Seema Kurup, Rear Adm. Robert Wright, Vice Adm. Mel Williams Jr., commander, U.S. Second Fleet, Master Chief Petty Officer Mike Stevens, Petty Officer 1st Class Donetta Cravens, Petty Officer 1st Class Carrie Sayers, Petty Officer 1st Class Jason Wilson and Master Chief Petty Officer Carlos Jones meet for U.S. Second Fleet's Sailor of the Year Selection Board at Second Fleet Maritime Headquarters Jan. 20. The Sailor of the Year program starts at the command level, and then progresses up the chain of command. The winners of the Second Fleet competition will compete for the U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF) award. The winner of the USFF Sea Sailor of the Year competition will be meritoriously promoted to chief petty officer. The USFF Shore Sailor of the Year will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete for the CNO's selection as the Navy's Shore Sailor of the Year.
