Two Air Force Pararescuemen with 131st Rescue Squadron, 129th Rescue Wing, Air National Guard, hoist onto a Sikorsky HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter after medically evacuating two “survivors” of a downed aircraft during a search and rescue training mission at Marine Corps Training Area Bellows, April 28, 2014. The training mission involved 30 roleplayers participating as “villagers” while the Pararescuemen pulled two dummies, or “survivors,” out of the wreckage of a crash site and prepared them for MEDEVAC. PJs are operatives tasked with the recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. 129th Rescue Wing, designated at Moffett Federal Airfield, Mountain View, Calif., traveled to Marine Corps Base Hawaii to conduct various training exercises to sustain familiarity of operating in jungle-type terrain.
