Sailors assigned to the Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) America (LHA 6) perform hose handling and aircraft firefighting drills on the flight deck. The U.S. Navy officially accepted delivery of the ship during a custody transfer ceremony, April 10. America will be the first ship of its class, replacing the Tarawa-class of amphibious assault ships and is scheduled to be commissioned late 2014 in San Francisco.
