Seaman Matthew Siteman from Supply Department aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan goes through the motions, practicing to launch his first aircraft off the deck, as part of a Shooter for the Day Raffle held on board by the Combined Federal Campaign. Siteman was given the opportunity to accompany one of Ronald Reagan's shooters, Lt.Cmdr. Trey Prim onto the flight deck to launch aircraft off the bow catapults. Ronald Reagan launched and recovered 48 aircraft during the four and a half hours of flight operations for the day. The Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group is on a routine deployment in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility. Operating in the Western Pacific and Indian Ocean, the U.S. 7th Fleet is the largest of the forward-deployed U.S. fleets covering 52 million square miles, with approximately 50 ships, 120 aircraft and 20,000 Sailors and Marines assigned at any given time.
