U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Joseph P. Olander, Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 263 (Reinforced), 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), UH-1Y Huey aircraft crew chief and native of Monson, Mass., observes the land to ensure the safety of the aircraft during a U.S.-French bilateral exercise. The exercise is designed to improve interoperability between nations, increase readiness and develop professional relationships. The 22nd MEU is deployed with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a theater reserve and crisis response force throughout U.S. Central Command and the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
