Sailors are assigned training gear and given instructions before they finish checking into Naval Special Warfare Center as BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) candidates. BUD/S candidates endure six-months of training that include rigorous physical exercise; land warfare; reconnaissance; small boat handling and basic diving techniques. Candidates must complete three phases of training and qualify in advanced training during a yearlong program to become Navy SEALs.
