The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) prepares to depart Naval Station Norfolk Jan. 12. USS Carl Vinson is conducting a homeport shift to San Diego following the completion of its mid-life refueling and complex overhaul (RCOH) at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding in Newport News, Va., which began in Oct. 2005. During the transit Vinson is scheduled to, conduct several engagements with regional partner nations, including bilateral navigation and passing exercises with Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peruvian Naval units.
