U.S. Army Illinois National Guardsman Maj. Tomas Akers, the Bilateral Embedded Staff Team deputy commanding officer, formulates reaction plans with Polish troops while taking cover in a simulated attack at the Bagram XV exercise. The U.S. Soldiers traveled to Poland to help prepare Polish soldiers for their upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.
