Iraqi engineers use a backhoe to move a pump into place as they begin to repair the damage to the water main in the Adhamiyah District of Baghdad, Oct. 31, 2008. Terrorists had placed an improvised explosive device on the pipe blasting an 18-inch hole in it. One million residents in the Adhamiyah, Rusafa and Karada Districts of Baghdad were affected. The Water Authority had to stop the flow of water into the area in order to affect repairs. The residents still had a supply of water; the authority had water pumped in from Taji and other areas. The water authority expects to have service fully restored by Nov. 2, 2008.
