Armed with a GAU-8/A 30mm cannon, a U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II from the 75th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan flies a combat sortie April 2, 2014, over Northeast, Afghanistan. The A-10 Thunderbolt II is the first Air Force aircraft specifically designed for close air support of ground forces.
