ALI BASE, Iraq -- Copilot for the mission, Senior Airman JoAnn Bonzi releases a UAV. The UAV is tied to a bungee chord which is stretched between the pilot and copilot. The motor on the UAV starts automatically when the craft reaches a predetermined speed during the slingshot takeoff.
