The amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge is underway off the coast of the Dominican Republic after launching a landing craft utility. Kearsarge is the primary platform for the Caribbean phase of Continuing Promise 2008, an equal-partnership humanitarian assistance mission involving the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Brazil, France, Nicaragua, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana.
