Ohio Army National Guard Soldier Sgt. Kevin Scarpino poses for a photo with Indy Racing League's No. 4 car and driver Vitor Meira (in car), July 17, 2008, following a two-seater ride in the car on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington. Scarpino was selected and honored as Ohio's hero by Panther Racing throughout the weekend of the Honda IndyCar Grand Prix, which featured the 612th Engineer Battalion unit patch on the No. 4 car. Scarpino was selected based on his performance as a route clearance platoon gunner during a 2004-2005 Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment with Company B, 612th Engineer Battalion.
