An elderly man with white hair, seen from behind, watches a V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft in flight against a partly cloudy sky. The aircraft appears as a dark silhouette with its rotors in a transitional or helicopter-mode position. The scene appears to be at or near a military airfield, with airport infrastructure visible on the horizon.

Maurice Howard Bailey, former prisoner of war during World War II and former Royal Air Force No. 15 Squadron wireless operator, watches a CV-22 Osprey fly past the air traffic control tower March 7, 2014, on RAF Mildenhall, England. Bailey flew only a few missions before being shot down while en route to Germany. As the only uninjured survivor of the plane crash, he managed to survive in enemy territory for several weeks before being captured near the border of Switzerland.
