Lt. Col. Richard Evely, chief of facility planning for the 81st Regional Support Command, clips bushes at a Columbia, S.C., family shelter that provides families transitional housing while they look for a permanent alternative. Evely and more than a dozen Reserve Soldiers and civilians based at Fort Jackson, S.C., traded their Army Combat Uniform and business attire for work boots and gloves to volunteer in the local community on Sept. 26, 2008. The 81st RSC recently began operations on Fort Jackson and will control Reserve facilities in nine southeastern states and Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
