Midori Chinen, center, teaches vocabulary to students March 17 at the Camp Courtney Education Center during a Japanese language class. “I did (an) English class (on the installation) for six years and (was offered) the chance to teach Japanese,” said Chinen. “I think this is a good chance to return something because I have learned many things here.” Chinen is a professional language teacher who coordinated through the Camp Courtney community relations office to voluntarily teach Japanese to interested participants on the installation.
