First Cavalry Division Commander Brig. Gen. Michael Bills conducts the battle update briefing during a command post exercise March 14, 2014. Command post exercises are training events for command staffs in which they set up a joint operations center and respond to realistic notional events just like they would down range, with observers and advisers helping them fine-tune their tasks, techniques and procedures.
