USS ASHLAND, AT SEA
Amphibious assault vehicles with Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, exit the well deck of the USS Ashland (LSD-48) during a night splash and recovery exercise, March 1. The 31st MEU recently embarked aboard the three ships of the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) Amphibious Ready Group for their regularly-scheduled Spring Patrol. The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps’ force of choice for the Asia-Pacific region and is the only continuously forward-deployed MEU. (Official U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Lance Cpl. Andrew Kuppers)
