‘No Slack’ for the men and women changing the future of the Army

Spc. Santrice Brown, assigned to the Infantryman Platoon, Company D “Dragons,” 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment “Battle Boars,” 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, loads a Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided, anti-tank training missile here at the Battle Boars’ motor pool, Feb. 12. This was just part of the task ahead of her, which was to load and unload two TOW training missiles on the Bradley. Each missile weighs approximately 65 pounds each. The Infantryman platoon split up into two-person teams and had to complete a number of Infantryman related physical tasks while being timed. This is just one small part of the rigorous train-up for the PDS that the Dragons have been spearheading. The desired result is that 2nd ABCT, in conjunction with U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, and the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine, should conduct a thorough evaluation, gathering as much data as possible, hopefully allowing the Army to develop "gender neutral physical standards." These validated standards are intended to shape future recruiting and accessions of both males and females into the evaluated Military Occupational Specialties. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Richard Wrigley, 2nd ABCT, 3rd ID, Public Affairs NCO)
