A U.S. Marine with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), holds an M1911 pistol magazine and ammunition during a combat marksmanship exercise aboard the USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), at sea, Feb. 19, 2014. The Marines conducted the exercise to maintain their proficiency with the M1911 pistol, M4 carbine and M16A4 rifle. The MEU is deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility with the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis response force capable of conducting amphibious missions across the full range of military operations.
