Gunnery Sgt. Tracy Martinez, enlisted conductor, 1st Marine Division Band, and native of Newbury Park, Calif., performed during the 1st Marine Division 73rd anniversary concert at Escondido, Calif., Jan. 31, 2014. Martinez joined the Marine Corps in 1995 and earned a master’s degree in Music Education from Boston University. Martinez deployed to Iraq in 2003 where he served as platoon sergeant of the Division Band and provided security in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. Martinez was selected as the Enlisted Conductor in 2004.
